Developing Australia's next generation of compute and energy hubs

Quantum DC brings together senior professionals across institutional real estate, energy markets, engineering and environmental approvals. We originate, structure and develop high quality digital infrastructure opportunities across Australia.
We develop compute and energy hubs: large scale data centre precincts co-located with new renewable generation, battery storage and fast-start firming generation, connected through designated network assets. Our model brings new energy supply to the grid alongside new demand, consistent with the direction of Australian energy policy.
Most data centre projects stall on power, planning, water or delivery. We solve these first. Quantum DC secures the land, the grid connection, the energy supply chain and the approvals pathway, then partners with operators and infrastructure capital to deliver, retaining long term positions in the network and energy platforms.
Site origination and acquisition Identifying and securing strategic landholdings at strong transmission positions.
Grid connection and network infrastructure Connection applications, designated network assets and long term arrangements with transmission network operators.
Energy procurement Renewable power purchase agreements, battery storage tolling and firming generation arrangements, managed through Quantum Energy Trading.
Planning and approvals Essential infrastructure and state significant assessment pathways, environmental studies and technical investigations.
Water and utilities Low water cooling strategies, servicing arrangements and utility coordination.
Fibre and connectivity Route assessment, carrier engagement and network diversity.
Government and community Coordinated engagement with state agencies, regulators, councils and local communities.
Partnerships and capital Structuring joint ventures with operators, energy counterparties and infrastructure investors.
Identify sites that combine transmission strength, energy resources, land, water and fibre
Acquire and control the land with a clear development pathway
Progress grid, energy, planning, water and fibre workstreams in parallel to remove execution uncertainty
Structure long term arrangements with data centre operators, energy counterparties and infrastructure capital
Manage the project through approvals and construction and into operations, retaining network and energy platform interests

Quantum DC is proposing to develop the Tungkillo Compute and Energy Hub at 312 Collins Road, Tungkillo, about 55 kilometres east of Adelaide. The project combines a hyperscale data centre campus of approximately 1,200 MW, delivered in three stages, with dedicated on-site energy infrastructure: gas-fired generation (gas turbines) that runs to firm the hub's supply when wind and solar output is low, a connection to ElectraNet's existing 275 kV transmission lines that cross the site, and two new substations.
The campus is planned to Tier IV availability standards, with closed-loop, direct-to-chip liquid cooling and dry (air-cooled) heat rejection, and with long-term renewable supply contracted from South Australian projects. The site covers approximately 220 hectares across five parcels, of which approximately 120 hectares will be developed; the remaining approximately 100 hectares will stay undeveloped as grazing land. The site is co-located with battery energy storage projects that are being developed separately; those projects are subject to their own approvals and do not form part of this application.
The project is proposed to be assessed through South Australia's Essential Infrastructure/Crown assessment pathway, with the Minister for Planning as the decision maker. Stage 1 is anticipated to commence operations in 2028, with the full development completed by 2031.
Community engagement is central to our delivery approach. Community drop-in sessions are being held at Tungkillo on Thursday 29 October 2026 and at Mannum on Saturday 31 October 2026, and you can register for project updates on the project page.

Quantum DC (QDC) The project company developing the Tungkillo Compute and Energy Hub, holding the site, the designated network assets and the project partnerships.
Quantum Developments Australia (QDA) The group's development platform, taking the compute and energy hub model to a pipeline of new sites across South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland. QDA applies the disciplines proven at Tungkillo: transmission strength, energy resource, land, water, fibre and a supportive policy environment.
Quantum Energy Trading (QET) The group's energy platform. QET contracts and manages the energy stack behind each hub: renewable power purchase agreements, battery storage tolling, firming generation and market operations, delivering firmed, renewables-led power under long term arrangements.
